Broad informal term for a child, boy, or young person. Also used in plural 'chicos' to refer to a mixed group of young people. Very neutral and extremely common.

Literally 'to be left small', but used to say something no longer fits or is no longer adequate. Applied to clothes, spaces, roles, and situations.
