This policy explains what data Discowatch (“we”, “us”) collects when you use discowatch.tv or our iOS app, why, and the choices you have. Discowatch helps you find Spanish-language shows graded to your level and study the vocabulary in each episode.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address when you sign up, managed through our authentication provider. You can sign in with a password, with Apple, or with Google; if you use Apple or Google we receive only the email address they release to us.
- Your level: the self-assessed CEFR level you choose, so we can grade shows to you. If you set a level while logged out, it is stored in a cookie on your device until you create an account.
- Learning activity: episodes you save, comprehension ratings, vocabulary you track, and review schedules, so the service can show your progress.
- Payment information: we never see or store your card details. On this website, payments are processed by Stripe. In the iOS app, Pro is bought through Apple’s In-App Purchase and handled by Apple; we use RevenueCat to tell us whether a subscription is active. In both cases we receive only your subscription status and limited billing metadata.
- Email engagement: whether our emails are delivered and opened, so we can send relevant, non-spammy messages.
How we use it
- To provide and personalize the service (grading, progress, reviews).
- To process and manage your subscription.
- To send service messages and occasional learning-progress emails, which you can opt out of at any time.
- To diagnose problems and improve Discowatch.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the service: a sign-in session cookie, and a functional preference cookie that remembers your chosen level (named dw_level, kept for about a year). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make Discowatch work, who process it on our behalf:
- Supabase: authentication and database hosting.
- Stripe: payment processing on the website.
- Apple: payment processing for subscriptions bought in the iOS app, and RevenueCat, which tells us whether your subscription is active.
- Resend: sending email.
- Our hosting provider, to serve the website.
These providers may process data outside your country; where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards.
Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, on the website from your profile or in the iOS app under Settings, after which we remove your personal data except where we must retain limited records (for example, billing records) to meet legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email support@discowatch.tv.
Children
Discowatch is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; we’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, let you know.
