Frequently asked questions

What is Discowatch?

Discowatch helps Spanish learners (beginner to advanced) find TV shows they can actually follow, graded to your level, and gives you the key vocabulary for every episode, so real native shows stop feeling impossible.

Do I need a Netflix subscription?

Discowatch isn't a streaming service and doesn't host any video. We help you discover the right shows and learn their vocabulary; you watch them on whatever platform they live on. Many titles are on Netflix, but availability varies by country.

Is Discowatch free?

Yes. Browsing the graded catalog is free, and so is each episode's essential vocabulary, which you can keep and review with no cap and no card. Discowatch Pro (a paid subscription) opens the rest of every pack, with every entry spoken in the show's own accent.

What does 'graded to my level' mean?

Tell us your level once and every show and episode shows how hard it'll feel for you (an easy win, in your range, or a stretch) on the CEFR scale (A1–C2). No more guessing whether something's too advanced before you press play.

What level do I need? Who is it for?

Discowatch is built for beginners through advanced learners (A2 to C1), the stage where textbooks run out but native TV still feels too fast. True beginners have a real starting shelf too: around a hundred episodes and films grade at A2, including Bluey and classic Disney dubs. You can set your level in seconds, no account required.

Which Spanish dialects does it cover?

Lots: Castilian (Spain), Mexican, Latin American, Colombian, Argentine and more. Accent matters when you're learning, so we label each show's dialect and you can browse by it.

How is this different from apps like Duolingo?

Duolingo and classes teach you the building blocks; Discowatch bridges the gap to real, native content. Instead of more exercises, you learn from shows you'd actually want to watch, with just enough vocabulary support to follow along.

What's in a study pack?

Each episode's pack has the key vocabulary you'll hear, with an example sentence and a translation for each. Keeping and reviewing them is free; Pro opens the rest of each pack.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, on iPhone and iPad: search for Discowatch on the App Store. It has your shows, your words and your reviews, and it reminds you when words are due. Sign in with the same account and everything you have kept on the website is there. An Android app is on the way; until then, open Discowatch in Chrome on Android, tap the menu, then Install app.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Anytime, from your account. Your Pro access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for. See our Terms for details.

Can I really learn Spanish just by watching TV?

Watching alone helps, but watching at the right level, with the key words in hand and a way to review them, is what makes it stick. That's exactly what Discowatch is built to do.
