Deep Space Homer

Literally refers to the relationship between a godfather and a child's parent, but is widely used as a warm, informal term of address for any group of men or mixed company.

Used in the sense of a rhetorical or marketing strategy, a 'spin' or angle to attract public interest. This non-compositional sense (a creative approach, not a geometric angle) is borrowed from journalistic and advertising language.
