In Latin American children's culture, 'el coco' is the classic boogeyman figure used to scare kids. When used by adults, it signals something frightening and unknown in a slightly ironic or joking way.

Literally 'little turtledoves.' Used affectionately or sarcastically to refer to a romantic couple, especially one being overly lovey-dovey. Common in everyday speech throughout Latin America.
