Used as a standalone address term in Colombian Spanish, especially from parents to children or between spouses. Softer and more intimate than a simple name call.

The equivalent of the English superstition of knocking on wood to prevent a bad outcome. The physical gesture and the verbal formula go together in Colombian and broader Latin American use.
